Our Favoritest Mexican Food

Once upon a time, an innocent young lady with naive taste buds moved out to Salt Lake City, a town she had never really spent time in. Thankfully her sister had spent time there and told the young lady that she absolutely must try Red Iguana. So the young lady took a trip to the west side of town to a bright yellow and red building, wondering if this was really the amazing mexican restaurant her sister spoke of. But she entered anyway, ate up, and her life was changed.

No, but seriously. Red Iguana has been a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it's the most amazing mexican food I've ever had but a curse because I now can't eat mexican food anywhere else. It's that good. We come here regularly and have never had a bad experience.

While at first we played it safe and always ordered the combination plates, we finally branched out and tried new dishes and were wowed, also regretting the poor decision making of visits previous. Our absolute favorite dish so far is the mango enchiladas. It blew us both away and it will be tempting to order that every single time we come back. I also love the red pipian mole and the enchilada suizas. But we've never had something we don't like.

And can we just talk about the chips and salsa for a minute? Complimentary chips and salsa are always awesome, but they serve my absolute favorite salsa. It's salsa, not pico, blended to perfection with just the right amount of spice that leaves you panting after you're on the third helping of salsa. Because yes, they keep it coming.

There's a reason this restaurant has been named Salt Lake City's favorite by numerous platforms. Next time you're in Salt Lake City, you NEED to come here. That's not a suggestion.

Big tip: Red Iguana is busy ALL the time, including weeknights. If you can, go for an earlier lunch around 11am for little to no wait.
